TREE OF LIFE

This series was inspired by a visit to Dimboola and the Little Desert in Victoria, Australia, where the unexpected presence of life within an arid landscape became a powerful source of reflection. Exploring a garden within the desert, I became fascinated by the resilience and beauty of flowers growing where one might expect only barrenness. The desert flower becomes a symbol of persistence, transformation, and the possibility of life emerging from seemingly impossible conditions. Its forms echo the ancient image of the Tree of Life, connecting the fragile growth of the individual plant with broader ideas of creation, renewal, and interconnectedness.

The paintings explore the idea of blooming in the wasteland, of finding beauty, growth, and hope in places marked by emptiness. The garden becomes almost mythical: a hidden sanctuary within the desert, where life continues to emerge, suggesting that even within desolation there remains the possibility of regeneration.

Ultimately, the series is a meditation on resilience, renewal, and the mysterious persistence of life, a garden existing where a garden should not be.
