HERMETIC EXPRESSIONISM
Luis Geraldes continues his extraordinary, long-term Hermetico expressionism and his artistic vision of humanity, spirituality and compassion.
Geraldes is a true citizen of the world - born in Portugal of Portuguese parents, follow is parents to Africa-Angola in 1961 then back to Portugal as a refugee in 1975 - he moved to Australia in 1985's and now travels the world - Europe, Asia, the America's - painting and exhibiting in a true global context leaving 6 months in Australia and 6 months wherever art the takes him.
The latest works by this incendiary Portuguese Australian artist of the inner and outer worlds - express with passion the hidden, the obscure and the outer layers of the psyche -of individual and general humanity - This vision is expressed very eloquently in a range of individual sculptures and paintings with striations and expressive and figurative layers of colour and shapes with luscious & lucid paint strokes expressing an individual and unique re-imagining of what lies just below the surface layers of spiritual, metaphysical, emotional and physical reality.
Over 30 paintings and 15 sculptures are included in this latest exhibition depicting an artist of supreme confidence in his productive and expressive capacity.
These art works are strong, powerful and visceral. Appealing both visually and emotionally. They will affect your body and soul as you move around throughout the various galleries that the work is displayed at this highly recommended Museu - Fundation Antonio Perez, Cuenca Spain.
Could not complete this analysis of Geraldes art works without mention Luis Geraldes latest masterpiece. A 17 sq. meters oil on canvas painting titled: “the battle for the human kind” permanently on display at the ISPA University of Psychology Auditorium in Lisbon – Portugal. This painting stands for Portugal as Guernica of Picasso stands for Spain.
